Pangasinan Governor Amado Espino III has ordered the suspension of classes from March 16 to April 12.
The Pangasinan politiko said the move is part of the provincial government’s initiatives to prevent the spread of the coronavirus disease (COVID-19).
But Espino clarified that the suspension of classes does not mean the school year has already ended.
He said that decision will come from the Department of Education.
“Schools may employ mechanisms so that students continue to fulfill their educational requirements within the said period and that families shall be responsible in ensuring their respective students to remain in their homes during the said period,” he said.
“Better safe than sorry, what is important is that we ensure the safety of the students,” Espino said.
