Pangasinan Governor Amado Espino III lamented the continued increase in coronavirus disease (COVID19) cases in the province.
The Pangasinan politiko admitted that most of the new cases were locally stranded individuals (LSI) who have recently returned to the province.
Most of the LSIs came from Metro Manila.
“We are saddened that the number of cases in the province is increasing but this is expected because of the LSIs returning to the province,” Espino said.
He also said it was the national government’s order for local government units to accept LSIs.
“We cannot just take for granted the command from the national government to accept the LSIs back to our province,” Espino said.
