Benguet Governor Melchor Diclas said province will still serve pork during the 119th Foundation Day of the province despite the threat of the African Swine Fever (ASF).
The Benguet politiko said the province is ASF-free.
The provincial government earlier issued a temporary ban on the entry of live hogs and and pork produce from other provinces.
“Our quarantine stations only allow pigs to enter if there is a certification that it will be for Baguio and that the delivery is complete with a certification that the pigs are ASF-free,” Diclas said
“It’s not affected. May sarili tayong produce sa Benguet, may sarili tayong baboy,” he explained.
He said the provincial government will provide at least 21 pigs during the grand cañao on November 23.
