Vice President Leni Robredo’s lawyer Romulo Macalintal on February 13 urged former senator Bongbong Marcos to focus on the upcoming ballot recount on March 19.
Macalintal made the remark after he rebutted the Ilocos Norte’s accusation that the “questionable” square marks on ballot images from the 2016 polls indicated electoral fraud.
He called on Marcos not to use Robredo’s name to get attention for an alleged bid to run in the 2018 mid-term elections.
The Supreme Court earlier set the ballot recount in Camarines Sur, Iloilo, and Negros Oriental on March 19.
“Marcos is clearly demonstrating what the Supreme Court said in a case ‘the propensity of election losers to demand a recount of ballots or filing all sorts of petitions in an open display of unwillingness to accept defeat,” Macalintal said.
