Vice President Leni Robredo’s lawyer Romulo Macalintal on January 30 slammed former senator Bongbong Marcos for his accusations that Robredo, the Commission on Elections (Comelec), and Smartmatic conspired to cheat in the 2016 elections.
The Ilocos Norte politiko on January 29 several ballot images from Camarines Sur and Negros Oriental had “questionable” marks, which indicated electoral fraud.
He also said the Comelec’s eight regional hubs were used to cheat him during the 2016 elections.
But Macalintal said Marcos’ accusations are “highly ridiculous if not outright frivolous.”
“Knowing the propensity of election losers in our country in filing all sorts of complaints in open display of unwillingness to accept defeat, they could have used such alleged questionable feature of the ballots in filing their election protest,” Macalintal said.
“The best evidence to prove if ‘hundreds upon hundreds’ of ballots contained the questionable features raised by Marcos are the copies in the custody of the PET and not the self-serving copies of Marcos,” he added.#
