President Rodrigo Duterte will be in Tuguegarao City and Laoag City today, Sunday to attend situation briefings on the effects of typhoon “Ompong” Sunday, Malacañang announced.
Duterte is scheduled to arrive at the Cagayan Provincial Capitol and Ilocos Norte Provincial Capitol at 12:15 p.m. and 2:30 p.m., respectively.
The chief executive was absent during the Ompong briefing held at the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council Operations Center at Camp Aguinaldo on Saturday.
It was Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque Jr. who presided over the 9 a.m and 2 p.m. meeting yesterday.
On Thursday, Duterte held a command conference for Ompong in anticipation of the typhoon’s possible effects.
He also sent his Cabinet members, Labor Secretary Silvestre Bello III, and Transportation Secretary Arthur Tugade to Northern Luzon to monitor the situation there.
