Kalinga Police have arrested a 29-year-old man for attempting to transport over P5 million worth of marijuana in Barangay Cagaluan.
Authorities identified the suspect as Albert Boraway Dugwawi.
According to the initial investigation, the suspect will be transporting marijuana products from Tinglayan to Tabuk City.
Joint operatives of the 2nd Kalinga PMFC, Tabuk City Police Station, Lubuagan MPS and Provincial Drug Enforcement Unit conducted an interdiction operation where the suspect was apprehended.
The suspect tried to flee from the inspection point that led to a vehicle chase.
Police found the vehicle abandoned with 10 bricks of dried marijuana leaves and stalks with fruiting tops with an estimated weight of 10,000 grams with a standard drug price (SDP) of P1.2 million; three pieces tubular forms of suspected dried marijuana leaves and stalks with an estimated weight of 3,000 grams with an SDP of P360,000; and 18 pieces medium rectangular shaped dried marijuana leaves and stalks with an estimated weight of 35,000 grams with an SDP of P4.2 million.
A manhunt operation was also launched which resulted in the arrest of the suspect.
