The Department of Science and Technology (DoST) in Cagayan Valley has collaborated with the Isabela State University to boost the local research and development of its bamboo industry.
Through the collaboration, the first Bamboo Textile Fiber Innovation Hub (BTFIH) in Northern Luzon was launched, funded by the DoST grants-in-aid program.
DoST Cagayan Valley head Director Dr. Virginia Bilgera said that one purpose of the innovation hub is to consolidate the R&D efforts on bamboo for textiles, ensuring quality and responsibility.
“It has been our mission to leverage science, technology and innovation to advance development across the board in our region. DoST Region 2 desires to see our visions into reality and attain development for our people,” she said.
