Senator Cynthia Villar lamented the bad timing of the Sandiganbayan decision convicting Ilocos Norte 2nd District Representative Imelda Marcos of seven counts of graft.
Villar said the Sandiganbayan ruling coincided with the birthday of the Ilocos Norte politiko’s eldest daughter, Governor Imee Marcos.
“Nagbirthday siya kahapon e, bad timing nga,” Villar said.
The Sandiganbayan found Marcos guilty of transferring around $200 million to seven Swiss foundations during her term as a member of the defunct Batasang Pambansa and as then Minister of Human Settlements.
Villar said the elder Marcos’ conviction will not affect the Ilocos Norte governor’s senatorial bid.
