Councilor Fariñas recalls fondest memory with late grandmother-in-law Mang

Vigan City Councilor Janina Medina-Fariñas’ fondest memory of her late grandmother-in-law, Remedios Dreyer “Mang” Castro Fariñas, is one that makes her laugh to this day.

In an Instagram post on October 18, the politiko recalled the time when she was heavily pregnant with her eldest child Cooper. She said she and her husband, businessman Rey Carlos Fariñas, were hanging out with Mang after eating dinner that day.

“You said we can go ahead and leave you and I said, ‘It’s ok Mang, we don’t have anything else to do.’ And you said “go make love!’ And when you first saw the twins you asked, ‘Apokok? Singin??’ and you had the happiest look on your face when we said yes,” Fariñas said.

She then said she will forever miss having Mang visit her grandkids at home.

“We’ll miss seeing you here at the house, but we know you are in a much better place now. God bless you and thank you for everything, Mang!” said Fariñas.

The family matriarch died on October 17. Her wake, however, was restricted to only her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren to observe physical distancing rules during the COVID-19 pandemic.
