The total number of COVID-19 active cases in the Cordillera Administrative Region (CAR) have already breached the 6,000-mark after 733 new infections were reported on Friday, September 10.
According to the Department of Health (DOH)-CAR, the whole region has 6,089 active cases. Of which, 1,922 are recorded from Baguio City, while 1,169 are from Benguet. At least 1,092 cases are reported from Apayao, 670 from Abra, 663 from Kalinga, 367 from Ifugao, and 206 from Mountain Province.
The spike in cases in the region was noted after reports of several patients were confirmed to be infected with the Delta variant which is more highly transmissible. As of September 5, the DOH-CAR has recorded 25 Delta variant cases in the region. The last eight cases were recorded on August 28.
