The Department of Agriculture is eyeing to make the Cordillera Administrative Region (CAR) a model region where green initiatives against climate change can be implemented.

“As the primary source of highland vegetables in the country, the Cordillera also serves as one of the models where we can showcase climate change adaptation and mitigation initiatives,”Agriculture Secretary William Dar said during the commemoration of CAR’s founding anniversary.

“A number of key economic policy tools for climate mitigation can be initiated in the Cordillera region,” he added.

According to the organization, a community watershed and a continuous forest conservation are some of their initiatives for this cause.
