Baguio City Mayor Benjamin Magalong is requesting for a reclassification and seeks for the implementation or a stricter quarantine status to address the current surge of COVID-19 cases.
The Politiko said that he is recommending that the city be placed under general community quarantine (GCQ) with heightened restrictions instead of just GCQ.
“As I keep on repeating, the worst is yet to come with regards to the Delta variant. So, the best thing apart from the observance of the minimum public health standards is for us to adopt more restrictions,’ The Politiko said.
Local health data show that Baguio City now averages more than 890 cases per week and indicate traces that the Delta variant is now the dominant variant in the city.
