The Philippine Atmospheric, Geographical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) reported that a low pressure area (LPA) at the east of Northern Luzon may intensify into a tropical cyclone as it enters the country’s area of responsibility.

The weather bureau shared that the weather disturbance was last spotted at 1,470 kilometer (km) east of Northern Luzon as of 3 p.m. Thursday, July 15.

“In the next 24 to 36 hours ay posibleng maging isang bagyo na ang LPA sa loob ng PAR (there is a possibility that the LPA will be develop into a tropical cyclone inside the PAR),” Weather specialist Ariel Rojas said.

He added that it will be given a local name “Fabian” if it develops into a cyclone inside the PAR.
