Baguilat’s post-US elections wish: For Joe Biden to back dropping of charges vs De Lima

United States President-elect Joe Biden has been officially sworn to office yet, but former Ifugao Representative Teddy Baguilat Jr. already wishes the soon-to-be leader of the free world to help free detained Philippine Senator Leila De Lima.

The former North Luzon politiko made this wishful thinking in a Facebook post on Sunday, November 8, hours after Biden has won the 2020 elections against the incumbent President Donald Trump.

“In his foreign policy positions, I hope President Joe Biden will support the call for this Trump-like government to drop their trumped up charges against Senator Leila De Lima,” Baguilat said.

“Just like Trump who has alleged election fraud without any evidence, this government has no evidence against Senator Leila as even their own witnesses are admitting the Senator was no links to the drug trade. Let’s stop this injustice! Free Leila now!” he added.

Baguilat is party mates with De Lima in the Liberal Party. De Lima, a known critic of Philippine President Rodrigo Duterte, is currently in jail due to multiple drug charges.
