The town of San Nicolas in Ilocos Norte has resumed its vaccination rollout after a fire that destroyed some 400 vaccines on Friday night.
In a statement released by the local office of the Department of Health in the region, the LGU is in close coordination with DOH’s officials about the fire. Dr. Rheuel Bobis, COVID-19 spokesperson of the DOH Region 1 said that the accident will not be a reason for the delay in the inoculation of the residents.
“We are assuring the public that this will not affect our vaccination activities,” he stated.
According to latest investigations, at least 33 vials of Sinovac vaccines and 18 vials of AstraZeneca vaccines were destroyed by the fire. One vial of AstraZeneca vaccine contains at least eight to 10 doses, while one vial of Sinovac contains a dose of the vaccine.
The Bureau of Fire Protection in Ilocos Norte is also looking at the angle of faulty wiring as the cause of the accident.
