Ilocos Norte Governor Imee Marcos’ speech writers seem to be making an effort to maximize the use of tired idioms and motherhood statements in her recent speeches.
In her speech during the province-wide reading seminar in Sarangani last May 29 in particular, Marcos threw away two unrelated motherhood statements in one sentence.
“People cry at the high cost of education, but on the other hand, we should also measure the price of ignorance,” she said.
Marcos also called on the public, using a paraphrased idiomatic expression, to contribute in creating a culture of reading in the country.
“It takes an entire barangay to make a child read. It takes a family,” she said.
