The province of Pangasinan reported at least a P40 million loss due to the outbreak of African Swine Flu in some towns.

According to Dr. Loida Valenzuela, the provincial veterinarian of the province, said that local hog growers are losing their livelihood because of it.

As per the latest monitoring and disease surveillance operation of the Provincial Veterinary Office, at least five municipalities in the east of Pangasinan are already infected including Solsona, Dingras, Marcos, Carasi, and Nueva Era.

“Amidst the stormy weather, we never ceased to conduct monitoring and surveillance activities in the infected and buffer zones to prevent disease transmission,” Valenzuela said.
