DAGUPAN CITY– Alaminos City Mayor Arthur Celeste on Thursday filed his certificate of candidacy (COC) for governor of Pangasinan at the Commission on Elections (Comelec) provincial office here.
“I am presenting myself as an alternative candidate for governor. Ako ay nagdesisyon na tumakbo sa pagkagobernador dahil sa aking pananaw, marami pa tayong dapat gawin sa ating lalawigan. Since 1989 up to the present, I serve the first district and our constituents saw how I performed. Mahirap i-challenge ang incumbent, that is the reality. I will try my luck dahil gusto kong magsilbi sa buong probinsiya,” Celeste said in an interview Thursday.
Celeste served as barangay captain for 13 years and eventually as Liga ng mga Barangay Provincial Federation president, nine years as congressman, and now on his second term as city mayor.
Celeste did not name who his vice gubernatorial running mate would be but he vouched for his integrity, saying their partnership will be “good for the province”.
Celeste’s other allies under the Nacionalista Party (NP), who also filed their CoC were: Darwina Sampang (candidate for third district Board Member), Bolinao Mayor Arnold Celeste (for first district Representative), second district Board Member Raul Sison (for second district Representative), and Donabel Fontelera (for first district Board Member).
Celeste and four others were the first to file their candidacy for the provincial positions on the first day of the filing of CoC for the midterm national and local elections on May 13, 2019. (PNA)
