Senator Migz Zubiri has vowed to file a Senate bill seeking to establish an Autonomous Region in the Cordillera.

Zubiri said many Cordillera autonomy advocates have visited him regarding the issue.

He said he is just waiting for the a copy of the House Bill 5343 before he files the counterpart Senate bill.

Presidential Adviser on the Peace process Jesus Dureza also urged autonomy advocates to continue lobbying in both the House of Representatives and the Senate.

Dureza said the current political climate is conducive to push for Cordillera autonomy.

“We must take advantage of the enabling environment provided by the President for us to pursue our quest for self-determination,” he said.

“The road to sustainable peace is really rough but we have to find our way through in pushing for the establishment of the long overdue autonomous region in the Cordillera,” Dureza said.#
