Tuba eyes passage of ‘Love Tree Ordinance’
The Tuba municipal government is seeking to enact a “Love Tree Ordinance.”
The proposed measure seeks to require couples to plant a tree before their marriage certificate can be released.
Tuba Councilor Maria Carantes, author of the proposed ordinance, said Mayor Ignacio Rivera requested that the measure be enacted.
“All applicants for marriage license in the municipality of Tuba are required to plant a tree, which is to motivate families to be part in the preservation of the environment for the next generation to enjoy,” Carantes said in her proposed measure.
Under the “Love Tree Ordinance,” the municipal government will identify a lot where love trees will be planted.
