Safe na safe! Ilocos Norte crime rate down by 60 percent
Ilocos Norte Police Provincial Director Jose Nartatez Jr. said the province’s reported index crimes dropped from 1,500 in 2015 to just 600 at the end of 2016.
Nartatez said this 60 percent crime rate drop was achieved through effective policing and the pro-active support of Governor Imee Marcos.
The Ilocos Norte Police hopes to continue its duty of “intensifying prevention of street crimes, further enhancing investigative solutions, arresting illegal drugs and loose firearms, and strengthening our capability enhancement program.”
But Nartatez said their “greatest battle is the battle in courts, not just on streets,” referring to allegations that some cops are involved in extrajudicial killings under the current administration.
