Robredo to SC: Order Marcos to pay P2B for protection of poll paraphernalia

Sep 5, 2017 @ 22:55

Vice President Leni Robredo’s camp on September 5 has filed a motion before the Supreme Court (SC) to compel former senator Bongbong Marcos pay P2 billion for the Commission on Elections’ continued protection of all poll paraphernalia relevant to his election protest.

The SC, sitting as the Presidential Electoral Tribunal, ordered the Comelec to safeguard all election paraphernalia in the 92,509 clustered precincts used for last year’s elections.

But Robredo’s camp said Marcos must pay for the expenses being incurred by the Comelec for this.

They said the vote-counting machines used in the 2016 polls should have already been returned to Smartmatic but this couldn’t be done because of Marcos’ election protest.

Marcos accused Robredo and the Liberal Party of cheating in the 2016 polls.
