Pangasinan’s Celeste brothers decide on who among them would run for Congress in 2019
The Celeste bothers of Pangasinan have agreed to back Alaminos City Mayor Arthur Celeste as the family’s candidate for the congressional seat that would be vacated by their eldest brother.
A Politiko source said that Arthur would seek a return to Congress and field his son to run for mayor of the city in the 2019 elections.
Arthur started as barangay chairman and later as President of the Liga ng mga Barangay Pangasinan before serving three consecutive terms as Congressman of the 1st Congressional District.
A source said that the eldest of the Celeste brothers, Pangasinan 1st District Rep Jesus “Boying” Celeste, is retiring from politics after being linked to drugs and murder.
There are five incumbent Celeste brothers in Pangasinan politics.
Aside from Arthur and Boying, the other Celeste brothers in politics were:
1) Bolinao Vice Mayor Alfonso is the second-eldest brother and is in his 2nd straight term.
2) Jorge is the third-eldest brother who landed as the number 1 councilor in Bolinao during the 2016 elections.
3) Bolinao Mayor Arnold is in his 2nd term.
