Pangasinan Vice Gov to run for House seat

Jul 8, 2017 @ 16:09

This early, Pangasinan Vice Governor Jose Ferdinand Z. Calimlim Jr is aiming for the House of Representatives in 2019.

Calimlim is on his last term and is preparing to run for congressman of the 3rd congressional district of the province.

He will challenge incumbent Pangasinan 3rd District Rep. Rose Marie “Baby” J. Arenas.

A Politiko source said, Calimlim will be supported by the powerful Espino Group.

Calimlim was three term mayor of Mapandan town before adding three terms of office as Vice Governor.

The Espino Group is headed by Pangasinan 5th District Rep. Amado T. Espino Jr who defeated Kimi Cojuangco in the 2016 elections.

Rep. Baby Arenas breezed through her first run for congress because she was virtually unopposed.

Former Rep. Rachel Arenas did not seek a third term and gave way to her mother Baby when there was no formidable opposition.
