Pangasinan town wants police chief out for politicking

Residents and officials of a town in Eastern Pangasinan held a rally in front of the municipal police station demanding the ouster of the current police chief.

“Hindi na tayo safe dito sa Balungao,” said mayor Philipp Peralta.

Peralta was referring to a series of raids conducted by the police headed by Police Senior Inspector Raymund Nicolas against punong barangays and other persons closely associated with the mayor.

Three punong barangays and a barangay councilor were charged with illegal possession of firearms and ammunition.

They claim that the guns were planted.

A Politiko source said that PSI Nicolas was a son-in-law of Patricia “Bosyang” Revita who lost to Peralta in the race for mayor the 2013 elections.

Patricia earned the “Bosyang” tag because people observed that she was very bossy in her actuations as the wife of former Rosales town mayor Ricardo Revita.

“Si Hepe (Nicolas) ay manugang ni Mayor Ric at Bosyang,” the source said.

There is also talk that Bosyang will run for mayor of Balungao in the 2019 elections as Mayor Peralta is in his last term.

Rumors of Bosyang’s plan to run for mayor again were sparked by reports she distributed educational paraphernalia during the opening of classes.

Peralta said he was in n favor of Oplan Double Barrel but it must not be used for political purposes.

He said that Balungao was a peaceful town that does not tolerate criminality.
