Pangasinan police station loses 41 guns
The chief of police of the Urdaneta City Police Station was transferred to the regional office after an inventory revealed 41 handguns in its armory could not be accounted for.
The National Police Commission (NAPOLCOM) Regional Office conducted the inventory on December 8, 2016.
Twenty four of the handguns have been recovered from private individuals and some barangay officials.
The Beretta and Glock handguns were either sold or pawned by police personnel.
Urdaneta City police superintendent Marcelino Desamito Jr. was replaced by superintendent Jackie Candelario.
Nine other Urdaneta City Police Station personnel have been relieved including the janitor.
The Pangasinan Provincial Police and the Criminal and Investigation Detection Group are conducting an investigation of the gun scandal.
