Pangasinan mayor Chua, VM Lopez suspended for plastering their faces on ambulance
Asingan, Pangasinan Mayor Heidee Chua and Vice Mayor Carlos Lopez Jr. have been suspended for one year for posting their faces and names on a government-owned ambulance.
Ombudsman Conchita Carpio-Morales found the two official liable for violating the Code of Conduct and Ethical Standards for Public Officials and Employees.
Morales said the two officials violated the Code for having refused to answer the letters of Asingan Councilor Avengeline Dorao.
Dorao, who filed the complaint before the Ombudsman, claimed that on Nov. 4, 2016 the two officials violated a Sept. 23, 2010 memorandum circular of the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) banning the placement of the names or initials and pictures of government officials on billboards and signs of government programs, projects and properties.
The councilor said she reminded the two local executives of the violations in letters she sent to them but the two failed to reply.
