Pakana ni Imee? Bongbong coy on rumored request for holiday for Marcos’ 100th birthday

Former senator Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. was coy on the report that his family asked President Rodrigo Duterte to declare a special holiday in Ilocos Norte for the 100th birth anniversary of his father and namesake.

“It may have been something that the governors po… I was not privy to those discussions,” Bongbong told reporters in Ilocos Norte Saturday (September 9).

The governor of Ilocos Norte is his sister, Imee.

Earlier this week, Malacañang issued Proclamation No. 310 declaring September 11 a special non-working day in Ilocos Norte.

“It is but fitting and proper that the people of the province of Ilocos Norte be given the full opportunity to celebrate and participate in the occasion with appropriate ceremonies,” the proclamation read.

Duterte backed the transfer of the strongman’s remains at the Libingan ng mga Bayani.

Bongbong said he was grateful about the issuance of the proclamation because it was a “recognition of my father’s service.”

The Marcoses are set to commemorate the late dictator’s birth anniversary at the Libingan ng mga Bayani on September 11.
