Pagudpud closes 20 homestay establishments for dumping kitchen wastes to the sea
Pagudpud Mayor Marlon Sales said around 20 homestay establishments were closed for violating the Clean Water Act.
The Ilocos Norte politiko said the homestay establishments were dumping their kitchen wastes directly to the sea.
The establishments were given six months to comply with the law.
“Let’s help make Pagudpud clean. This is for all of us. We need to help each other to ensure a sustainable tourism and environment,” Sales said.
He also said the municipal government is eyeing an ordinance mandating the establishment of a sewage treatment facility before opening a business.
