Jan 12, 2018 @ 18:39

Baguio City Mayor Mauricio Domogan called on the Department of Health (DOH) and the Office of the Civil Defense (OCD) to change its anti-firecracker slogan.

The Baguio politiko said changing the slogan from “Iwan Paputok” to “Bawal ang Paputok” will make the message clearer.

“We already recommended to the concerned health authorities to change their slogan “Iwas Paputok” to Bawal ang Paputok” to make it clear to the people that the explosion of firecrackers during the Yuletide season is prohibited so they will not try to sneak in firecrackers to be used during the revelries,” Domogan said.

He nevertheless thanked Baguio residents who followed the anti-firecracker ban during the holiday season.

Domogan said there was a significant decrease in firecracker-related injuries during the New Year’s celebration because of the ban.
