Mayor Domogan: P2.7M compensation for Asin landowners ready to be released
Baguio City Mayor Mauricio Domogan said the local government has always been ready to pay P2.7 million in compensation to the landowners of Asin affected by the operations of the mini-hydro powerplants in the area.
The Baguio politiko said the P2.7 million is ready to be released but certain complications need to be settled first.
Some Asin landowners filed complaints for not being included in the original list of landowners that will receive compensation.
“We will have to undertake another survey to pinpoint those landowners who were not included in the original list so that they will be included once the survey results will show that they are part of these that were affected by the previous operation of the city-owned power plants,” Domogan said.
The previous administration also previously filed a damage suit against landowners for allegedly diverting the flow of the river, further stalling the release of the compensation.
The river diversion supposedly affected the operation of the mini-hydro powerplants.#
