Mayor Domogan eyes stricter regulations for small-scale mining

Jun 14, 2018 @ 10:28

Baguio City Mayor Mauricio Domogan is seeking stricter regulations for small-scale mining.

This after 13 people were arrested for illegal small-scale mining in Uabac, Camp 7.

Domogan said even small-scale mining activities pose environmental and health hazards to the public.

He said government agencies concerned with mining must regularly conduct ocular inspections to mining sites.

We certainly need the implementation of the appropriate regulations governing small-scale mining operations to make sure that threats to the environment posed by the pocket mining activity will be significantly reduced and that the involved individuals will pay the taxes due to the government,” Domogan said.
