Mayor Domogan considering transfer of Baguio waste to Urdaneta landfill
Baguio City Mayor Mauricio Domogan said the city government is considering the transfer of the Summer Capital’s waste from Capas, Tarlac to Urdaneta City, Pangasinan.
The Baguio politiko said that a sanitary landfill operator in Urdaneta offered to accommodate the city’s waste at just P550 pero ton tipping fee.
Metro Clark Waste Management Corporation, which manages Baguio’s current landfill, earlier said it will increase its tipping fee from P550 per ton to P650 per ton in 2018.
Domogan said the city government will evaluate the two offers.
“We want to study which of the offer of the two landfill operators is advantageous to the local government so that we will be able to sustain the hauling of the city’s residual waste while we are working on the realization of the waste-to-energy project that will be established within the suitable site in the Antamok open pit area in coordination with the Benguet corporation and its private partner, Goldrich Natural Exploration and Development, Inc.,” Domogan said.#
