Mayor Domogan: Baguio to dump waste in Urdaneta sanitary landfill
Baguio City Mayor Mauricio Domogan said the city government will dump its waste from Capas, Tarlac to Urdaneta City, Pangasinan in 2018.
The Baguio politiko said the Urdaneta City sanitary landfill was able to comply with all the required permits under the Ecological Waste Management Act.
The transfer came about after the Metro Clark Management and Sanitary Services Corporation in Capas said it will increase its tipping fee from P550 per ton to P650 per ton starting January next year.
But the Urdaneta sanitary landfill operator offered to charge the Baguio city government just P550 per ton for the tipping fee.
Domogan said the move will generate savings for the city government.
“We have to make sure that we will keep our hauling cost to the greater advantage of the local government so that it will not affect our budget projections next year while we are setting our sights on the long-term solutions to our garbage disposal problem which will be the put up of the integrated solid waste disposal facility either in the Antamok open pit site or in the city-owned property in Sto. Tomas School Area,” he said.
