Marcos: Fariñas personnel swiped tobacco fund docs
Ilocos Norte Governor Imee Marcos has claimed that a janitor working for Commission on Audit in Region I stole the original documents related to the alleged misuse of the P66.45 million in provincial tobacco funds.
The Ilocos Norte politiko said that a certain Pedro M. Gorospe Jr., a janitor and messenger at the COA Office, stole the documents.
Marcos said Gorospe is the in-law of Cynthia Gorospe, supposedly one of House Majority Leader Rodolfo Fariñas’ personnel.
“Tinatanong din sa’kin, bakit daw nawala? Bakit hindi masumpaan ng Ilocos Six yung mga tseke na winawagayway? Bakit wala na yung original? Unang-una, tinurn-over namin ‘yan sa COA. Ang COA raw ang nakawala, at sila naman ang nag-aamin na ito nga ang nangyari,’ Marcos said.
The subject of lost original documents surfaced in the third House hearing into the tobacco fund issue last May 29, when the Ilocos Six were cited in contempt and detained for “refusing to answer questions.”
