‘Maawa naman kayo!’ Gov Marcos slams detention of Ilocos 6
Ilocos Norte Governor Imee Marcos hit the House Sergeant-at-Arms for not allowing the so-called “Ilocos 6” to appear in the hearing for their petition for the writ of habas corpus before the Court of Appeals (CA).
The Ilocos Norte politiko warned that the House Sergeant-at-Arms will again disobey the CA’s order for the provincial government employees to appear before the court.
Ilocos Norte Representative Rodolfo Fariñas on May 29 cited in contempt the Ilocos Norte provincial government employees for refusing to give answers in the House probe into the alleged misuse of the province’s tobacco excise fund.
“Maawa naman kayo! Ilang araw na silang nakakulong at hirap na hirap na sila sa kanilang kalagayan. Gusto na nilang makabalik sa kani-kanilang bahay sa Ilocos Norte,” Marcos said.
Marcos called the detention “mental torture” for the employees and their families.
