Kalinga mayor, 2 municipal officials suspended over unauthorized reappropriation of funds
The Office of the Ombudsman has ordered the suspension for one year without pay Rizal Mayor Marcelo dela Cruz Jr and two other municipal government officials for simple misconduct and conduct prejudicial to the best interest of service.
In the decision signed by retired Ombudsman Conchita Carpio-Morales, the Kalinga politiko, together with municipal budget officer Delia Damasco Jacob and municipal accountant Rodelia Baquiran Busacay, were found guilty of simple misconduct and conduct prejudicial to the best interest of service for the unauthorized re-appropriation of P14.5 million.
The Ombudsman said the three violated Article 322 and 344 of RA 7160, thereby warranting administrative sanctions.
But the decision said there were no elements of corruption in the case.
The complainants were Frank Wad-asen, Rogelio Lawad, Ponz Anthony Orodio, and Robert Echalar.
