Imee confirms narco-politics has penetrated Ilocos Norte
Cooperation of all authorities is needed in making Ilocos Norte free from all forms of drugs.
This was stressed by Governor Imelda Josefa “Imee” Marcos during the conduct of the March 23 Regional Peace and Order Council (RPOC) meeting in Laoag City.
In the same meeting, the lady politiko also confirmed that some Ilocos Norte mayors including barangay captains and kagawads are on the list of local government officials involved in drugs.
“Based on the Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) list, there are high value targets in Ilocos Norte,” Imee said.
“We can’t take action right away but to clear up the list first then verify the information gathered and start a case build up,” she added.
Earlier, the DILG came out with its own matrix of drug protectors involving at least 50 mayors and hundreds of barangay officials nationwide. The information is now being validated for further action.
