Imee calls for better assistance for Middle East OFWs
Ilocos Norte Governor urged authorities to help the Overseas Filipino Workers (OFW) in the Middle East, in particular Ilocanos applying for amnesty.
Marcos visited the Philippine Embassy in Saudi Arabia as part of President Rodrigo Duterte’s delegation.
She cited the case of Ilocano OFW Mario Oriol of Sarrat, Ilocos Norte who has not received his salary for 11 months.
Marcos coordinated financial and legal assistance with the Saudi Minister of Labor, Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) Secretary Silvestre Bello III, and ACTS OFW Representative Aniceto Bertiz.
Ilocos Norte is one of highest dollar remittance recipients in the Philippines with 61% of families in the province supported by OFWs.
