Gov Marcos to House: Be lawmakers, not lawbreakers
Ilocos Norte Governor Imee Marcos, in a statement, has urged the House of Representatives to free the Ilocos Six from detention, saying lawmakers “should not be lawbreakers.”
The Ilocos Six were detained after House Majority Leader Rodolfo Fariñas cited them in contempt for their “refusal to answer questions.”
Marcos and they Ilocos Six’s lawyers earlier filed petitions at the Court of Appeals (CA) for the writ of habeas corpus and their release on bail, both of which were ordered and granted.
But the House refused to release the Ilocos Six.
“Not once, not twice, but three times, dinefy ang order of the Court ng Congress to produce and then release the Ilocos Six,” she added.
