Gov Marcos denies family wants to return ill-gotten wealth to government

Aug 31, 2017 @ 16:22

Ilocos Norte Governor Imee Marcos on August 31 denied there are negotiations to return some of her family’s wealth to the Philippine government.

Marcos’ remarks is contrary to President Rodrigo Duterte’s claim that a spokesman of the Marcos family told him that they were willing to return some of their wealth to the government.

She also said the Marcos family trusts Duterte to end the cases against them that have been going on for several decades.

The Marcos family’s ill-gotten wealth is the subject of numerous cases both here and abroad.

“Tiwala kami sa Presidente na siya ang makakapagtapos ng deka-dekadang kaso. Ang pamilya nag-uusap pa, pero nasa kamay pa ng mga abogado,” Marcos said.
