Gov Espino inks MOA establishing free public wifi in Pangasinan
Pangasinan Governor Amado Espino III on July 26 has signed a memorandum of agreement (MOA) with the Department of Information and Communication Technology (DICT) to establish free public wi-fi hotspots in the province.
The project, dubbed PIPOL KONEK, aims to boost socio-economic growth and improve access to information by providing free wi-fi in public spaces in Pangasinan.
It was initially launched in Laoac, Sta. Maria, and the City of Dagupan.
The PIPOL KONEK project will allow multiple data allocation per user, from 50 mbps to 300 mbps.
A user will be able to choose from different levels of registration — from anonymous gadget log-in (50 mbps), email registration (100-150 mbps), and Citizens Digital ID registration (300 mbps).
