Gov Espino honors cop killed in clash with NPA
Pangasinan Governor Amado Espino III has lauded the bravery of PO2 Aries Tamondong of the Philippine National Police Regional Public Safety Battalion (PNP-RPSB) after he was killed in action during a clash with communist rebels last July 28.
Tamondong was patrolling the boundary between Barangay Sta. Maria and Malico in San Nicolas following reports of rebel sightings in the area.
The Pangasinan politiko said Tamondong’s “ultimate sacrifice” deserves the province’s admiration and gratitude.
“We also laud and salute the courage and gallantry of the other members of the RPSB of the PNP, as well as the reinforcements from the Philippine Army who, collectively, retrieved the slain body of P02 Tamondong, rescued PO2 Jonielon Marius Bagcal who was wounded during the gun fight, and ultimately repulsed the rebel force,” Espino said.
“Let the bravery and heroism of our men and women in uniform remind us to stand strong and unite as one people to ensure a safe and peaceful Pangasinan,” he added.#
