Good news for Cordillera tourists: DPWH paves Sagada Road
Here’s good news for tourists heading for Sagada and other tourist attractions in the Cordillera region: the Department of Public Works and Highways has completed a road improvement project in Sagada and Bontoc.
The DPWH said it concreted and widened 4.1 kilometers of Balili-Suyo-Sagada Road that leads to famous Sagada caves, burial caves, museums, ancient villages, rice terraces, waterfalls and other tourist destinations in Mt. Province.
It said it spent P95.5 million to “ensure safer, better and easier access of tourists and locals who will directly benefit from the project.”
Aside from tourists, expected to benefit are farmers who deliver their products to the main markets, tourism-dependent business owners, students and residents who need medical assistance.
The DPWH said improving the Balili-Suyo-Sagada Road is part of efforts to strengthen the tourism industry of Cordillera Administrative Region.
On the other hand, the DPWH said the opening of several sections of Tarlac-Pangasinan-La Union Expressway also contributed to the influx of tourists travelling to Northern Luzon and the Cordilleras.
