Ex-Isabela gov Padaca ordered to pay fine over failure to file SALN
Former Isabela Governor Grace Padaca has been slapped with a P4,000 fine after pleading guilty of failing to file her statements of assets, liabilities and net worth (SALN).
The Sandiganbayan 2nd Division imposed the fine after Padaca withdrew her not guilty plea and entered instead a guilty plea over four counts of graft.
“Upon being personally asked by the court, accused Padaca affirmed the manifestation of her counsel and declared that she understands the nature and cause of the accusations against her. She therefore entered a plea of guilty to the charges,” the court said in its decision.
“Considering the voluntary plea of guilty of the accused, and conformable with the provisions of Section 11 (a) of RA 6713 (Code of Conduct and Ethical Standards for Public Officials and Employees), the court hereby sentences her to pay a fine of P1,000 in each of the four criminal cases aforementioned, or the total amount of P4,000,” it ruled.
The charges stemmed from her failure to file her SALN from 2007 to 2010 when she was still governor.
