Estelito Mendoza shocked by Alvarez’s CA tongue-lashing

Jun 16, 2017 @ 19:09

Veteran lawyer Estelito Mendoza called on Speaker Pantaleon Alvarez to respect the separation of powers of the three branches of government.

This after the House of Representatives defied the Court of Appeals order to release six Ilocos Norte Provincial Government officials who were detained since May 29 for contempt.

“Ako naniniwala naman meron pa tayo gobyerno. Meron tayo saligang batas. Sa saligang batas, ang CA ay isang independent part of judiciary and judiciary is independent and separate part of government,” Mendoza said.

Alvarez also slammed the three CA judges who issued the order.

“That’s gross ignorance of the law! Mga gago yang tatlong justices na yan,” Alvarez said.

Mendoza said he was surprised by Alvarez’s use of cuss words against the judges.

“Gagamitin nyang salita bilang isang abogado rin nakakapagtaka. We are all aghast at what is happening,” he said.
