EMB-CAR report: Baguio compliant with closure of Irisan dumpsite

Jan 12, 2018 @ 13:55

The Environmental Management Bureau (EMB-CAR), in its monitoring report, said the Baguio city government has complied with the writ of continuing mandamus issued by the Court of Appeals (CA) that resulted in the closure of the city’s Irisan open dumpsite.

The EMB-CAR said the Irisan dumpsite continues to be closed and is not receiving solid waste.

EMB-CAR Regional Director Reynaldo Digamo said the the dumpsite has been overgrown with vegetation.

Digamo also said the Baguio city government’s Environmental Recycling System (ERS) machines are still being used.

The fertilizer processed via the ERS are used for Baguio’s parks as well as sold to other private and public entities.

Digamo added that the EMB-CAR report was already submitted to the Office of the Solicitor General.#
