Down payment lang tapos nawala na: Cagayan mayor Pua faces graft raps over unpaid property
By James Hernandez
Alcala, Cagayan Mayor Criselda Antonio-Pua faces a graft complaint before the Office of the Ombudsman for allegedly failing to pay the remaining P8.35 million balance for a property she bought.
The complaint was filed by Consuelo Naidas-Orteza who also named as Pua’s co-respondents the couple, Jarl Permentier and his wife Ofelia.
Orteza recounted that the Permentier couple approached her and expressed intrest in acquiring a property her late husband inherited measuring 12,000 square meters.
An agreement was reached to sell the property at P10.8 million with the Permentiers making an initial payment of P1 million.
Orteza said that last November 2016 she was told by Ofelia that the balance will be paid by Pua.
Later on, Pua issued a promissory note on February 3, 2017 saying that she will pay Orteza’s family P8.35 million.
However, after many months, Orteza lamented that Pua no longer responded to the demands for payment.
Orteza lamented that her family was forced to sell the land due to the P2 million debt owed used medical expenses and the funeral of her late husband.
