Cosalan lauds DENR-NCIP order simplifying rules on securing ancestral land titles
Benguet Representative Ronald Cosalan has lauded the simplified procedures in securing ancestral land titles.
Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) Secretary Roy Cimatu and National Commission on Indigenous Peoples Chief Leonor Quintay recently signed an administrative order simplifying the implementing rules and regulations (IRR) for securing certificates of ancestral land titles (CALT).
The Benguet politiko and the late Mountain Province representative Max Dalog were pushing for a bill extending the validity of Section 12 of the Indigenous Peoples Rights Act (IPRA) for another 20 years.
The validity of IPRA’s Section 12 expires next month.
Cosalan says the DENR-NCIP order would allow legitimate ICCs and IPs to secure titles.
